Volunteers needed for annual Paws in the Park dog festival

A POPULAR family dog show held in parks around Bracknell has appealed for more volunteers and stall holders for this year’s event.

Despite budget cutbacks from Bracknell Forest Council, the annual Paws in the Park event will continue its charitable fundraising this year at Braybrooke Recreation Ground after business Animal Physiotherapy Ltd stepped in to organise it.

Last year’s event at South Hill Park saw 2,000 visitors attend to enjoy the dog shows and stalls on offer but this year’s show still needs the support of more volunteers or more items to add to the free giveaway goody bags.
Donna Wills from Animal Physiotherapy said: “The show has always been a fun event for dog-related businesses to let visitors know about themselves; owners to maybe pick up a bargain, and learn about new things available to them; and for families to watch displays and see how amazing dogs can be.

"On a more serious note, it has also been an opportunity for dog owners to meet their local veterinary practice and ask any questions they may have.

“Children can also learn to be confident and happy around dogs and learn to respect them.”

Traditionally the show has moved around the borough giving dog owners the opportunity to explore different parks, prior to this it has been held in Lily Hill Park, Westmorland Park and Savernake Park.

The council still support the show and it remains non-profit thanks to the 19 organisations sponsoring it so far, including Bracknell estate agents Duncan Yeardley.

Anyone who would like a stall or more information on how to be involved contact Donna at donna@animalphysiotherapy.org.uk This year Paws in the Park will take place on Saturday, August 20, between 11am and 3pm at Braybrooke Recreation Ground with free entry and free parking.

Puppy Massage DVD. Release date 20th August 2016

This DVD has been developed by Animal Physiotherapy Ltd in celebration of their 10 year anniversary. It was a successful kickstarter backed project.

Its aim is to help owners learn how to do massage on their dog so they feel confident in handling and touching them in this way. The puppy will also become a confident, happy puppy, who is at ease being handled and touched all over their body. This will make life more pleasant with the vet, groomer or any future therapist. It is also the basis of any home massage your dogs therapist may tell you to do if they ever have any ailments that require any form of physical therapy in their life.

This DVD will set you up with skills for a lifetime.

Welcome for Faygen

image

Hello and welcome to Faygen. This gentle giant has come for physiotherapy because his dad was very worried about a swelling in his right fore limb. Having seen the vet and tried the usual treatments and had investigation, his dad felt he still "just wasnt right". He had also suffered a repeated cyst in a digit.

So he has now started physiotherapy. He is responding very well. There were some muscle imbalances and some possible adhesions left from an injury which had likey healed over the time that had passed since the original injury. It may have simply been due to the body being used poorly whilst the cysts were present. He also had a painful back.

So we have given his dad some home massage to do. Both Faygen and dad are enjoying this. And he is responding well. We are treating with deep tussue massage and stretches.

Keep up the good work Faygen and Dad.
