Puppy Massage DVD launch and history
The Puppy massage DVD has had its launch but it also has an amazing history of how it came about. Here you can see the launch photos and read the updates of its progress as it developed over the year it took to produce. These there the updates we sent out to the backers. BBC radio Berkshire also joined us for the event.
The Kickstarter updates
We are proud that this is a successful kickstarter funded film. See the Puppy Massage DVD page for more information on the kickstarter project and the story behind the DVD and why its such an essential educational film for any dog owner.
Below you can see all the updates we sent out to our backers as we went through the development of our DVD. See photos from our day of filming.
20/06/16 - The DVD
Thank you for your support and patience for this project. I am so pleased to tell you that the artwork is now done and the DVD is ready to be sent for duplication!
Here it is, I hope you like it 🙂
I am taking the prototype to Dogfest this weekend to start the pre-release sales. Don't worry, no one gets it until 20th Aug, accept you wonderful backers who will receive your copy very soon!
30/05/16 - TV Vet has given the thumbs up!
I am so pleased to tell you that the final part of the DVD puzzle is in. TV Vet Paul Manktelow BVMS MSc MRCVS Veterinary Director Vital Pet Health, has said this for the front cover...
"Learning to massage your puppy helps create a strong loving bond and encourages confidence when being handled by you, your vet, therapist or groomer"
I am so pleased to have him on board and giving a big thumbs up! I am also hoping he will join us for the Launch in August, but one step at a time!
I am shocked to say that it has now been a year and 2 days since the project was successfully backed. How time flies! I have learnt a lot on this journey and I am surer there is still very much more to go. But for now, I will get the final bits of the artwork together and get this DVD to press. Exciting stuff!
13/05/16 The reviews are coming in. Dogs Today Magazine
I am so pleased to be able to tell you about another review.
This has come from Beverly Cuddy, Editor of Dogs Today Magazine:
Another 5 Stars *****
“Every dog wants their owner to watch this!”
“If only every puppy could grow up loving a human's touch. Donna teaches you how to get even closer to your best friend than ever before."
Thank you everyone!
09/05/16 - Amazing review from the BVNA President
I couldn't not share this exciting bit of news. As you know I am trying to patiently wait for the reviews to come in.
Well I had the first one back. This came from the President of the BVNA (British Veterinary Nursing Association).
I am over the moon.....
I watched this video this morning and I was very impressed how well you explained things and think this will be very useful. I especially liked how you explained how this could make examinations at clinics etc a lot more tolerable for the dog in the future.
My star rating would be 5 out of 5 stars 🙂
My sentence; "Donna explains each technique very clearly and shows how spending time with your puppy performing massage can be both therapeutic to dog and owner alike, these techniques will greatly improve the overall well being of your puppy".
Well done and I hope this DVD is very successful and create lots of happy puppies!!
Samantha Morgan, President (of the BVNA)
I hope you are all as excited as I am about this.
Thank you all!
Its nearly here! - 06/05/16
I apologise for how long its been since the last update. But there has been a lot going on. I never realised how long these parts all take.
I am so pleased to say that the final DVD is now done! I have also done most of the cover artwork.
So the part I am now waiting for is those important star reviews, and of course, TV vet Paul Manktelow, to give his final blessing.
So I feel like I am resitting my exams as I wait to see what people think of the DVD. I have Dogs Today magazine doing a review and the president of the British veterinary nursing association.
Once they are done I can put those final touches on the DVD artwork and send it for printing.
Meanwhile I have been busy working on the dog show "Paws in the Park" where we will have the premier viewing of the DVD. This has also required a lot of time and effort. But it will be great fun.
I thank you all for your patience and I look forward to finally delivering the DVD. Hopefully not too much longer now!
18/02/16 - DVD Launch!
I am so sorry for the delay since my last post! There has been a lot going on and I wanted to be sure of a few things before I told you all.
The DVD is not yet complete, but it is nearly there and it is looking fantastic! I'm so proud!
My next piece of very exciting information is about the launch. I have been in meetings with my local council. They are very kindly letting me launch the DVD at thier dog show this year in exchange for me organising the whole event. So there is lots of work ahead, but it will be a great day!
So keep yourselves free on 20th Aug 2016, so you can join us at the launch in Bracknell, Berkshire, UK. I will update you with more details, but that will be the premier viewing.
Last year there was approximately 2000 people at the show, so this year there will be even more!
Thank you again for all your support. I couldn't have done it without you.
22/11/15 - The Trailer is here!
I am pleased to say, here is the trailer! And you get to see it first!
So it is coming soon!
Sadly, as these things go I guess, it is taking longer than I had hoped. I am at the hands of my editor. I am trying very hard to motivate him into action, but it is taking longer than I had hoped. But I still have my fingers crossed for christmas!
I hope you all like what we have so far!
Thank you again my wonderful backers!
More cute puppies!
We have all been REALLY busy. Adrian is still getting through the tons of footage and getting it into a wonderful DVD. I have been working hard on getting the final bit of footage.....
I waited for one of my clients who's timing was impeccable. She has just has a little of puppies so I could get some footage of some very young little ones to put into the DVD. So this has to get to adrian too!
In the meantime, my lecturing has also really taken off, so having lectured at BCA this weekend, I am also being flown to Denmark to lecture there for 2 day in mid November. Its very exciting as I am probably lecturing there for 2 days every 6 months for the next 2.5 yrs! So this means I get to promote the DVD in Denmark! The good thing there is that they speak excellent English, so no need to translate! I'm determined to make this global.
Thank you again for all your support and patience for the project! 🙂
Its been a while since the last update but a lot has been happening so here it is!
I re-filmed a few parts which only involved me. The puppy is so big now! And I am now much happier as I was able to read the script easier so it more clear. Very excitingly, I was also able to see myself on T.V for the first time! Wow! Alex Mitchell very kindly redid my make-up as crazy O'clock in the morning!
I have also now done the recording for the voice over part of the film. It has been fascinating studying documentaries on T.V. and seeing how little they actually say to the camera! I never noticed this before! I have a new found respect for the voice over industry. Its actually exhausting to concentrate on talking and not tripping over your words for so long!
So Adrian, the cameraman and Editor is now having to put the almost 200 scenes together to make our film.
Sadly the Japanese part of the process is looking much more difficult. I had totally under-estimated how hard that would be. The Japanese have a very complicated language and so translation is time consuming. Did you know the Japanese don't have an alphabet like we do? They write sounds instead. So we have 26 letters. They have just under 50 sounds. And that's just the start of their complex language which is actually a mix of 3 languages! Its been very interesting, and a big learning curve, but also a little disappointing. But we do still have options to explore, so I am not giving up on having a Japanese version. But I may have to get an external publisher involved to take on the process in Japan. I have lots more research to do!
But there are also many other English speaking countries to approach! And that will be far easier!
I look forward to sending my next update!
22/07/15 Filming is nearly all finished!
This weekend was our big filming day. We had a lot of fun, but it was also exhausting!
Our puppy certainly kept us on our toes. She had a fun start as she simply wanted to chew everything.....luckily my nails were done in super tough Shellac, so there was no getting through those! Soon though, she let me work my magic and even I cant believe how amazing she was. She laid down and let me massage her and fell asleep. I couldn't be more proud!
We had a wonderful team of people, so thank you to you all! Adrian was our camera man and director and he did a fantastic job of keeping me calm too!
Chrysa was our photographer and she took some amazing pictures and documented the whole day. She also took the photos of the lucky dogs who also helped on the day and whos mums backed the project and got the the photo shoot reward!
We also had the wonderful Alex who did my make-up. She did a wonderful job of making sure my nails were looking good for the hand close-ups and my face was as it should be for camera!
We wouldn't be anywhere without our helpers, Sarah and Veronica! Thank you for keeping the food and cups of tea coming! And for holding the script!
But most of all, we wouldn't have anything if we didn't have our puppy star Immy the Moremma Puppy! She was a total star.....in the end! And thank you to mum, Claire, for brining her along and taking such good care of her.
Here are the photos of our day!
