Monty

Hello and welcome to Monty. So sweet. He had an intervertebral disk disease issue a few years ago that was fixed and everything seemed to be fine.

But then it seemed to happen again. The owner did really well and was very pleased with opting for conservative management, so no surgery. The healing was quite quick. But after approx 4 weeks, they noticed that the kyphotic (arched) spine shape had remained. So they decided to get us involved to help.

This can be the case due to chronic back pain grumbeling away and poor strength in the core muscles. So we reduced his excercise right down to a little and often regime so snap into a better walking posture. We also gave core strengthening excercises.

We are pleased to say Monty has responded really well and has now lost the arched back and is enjoying his walk regime again.

Well done Monty and family.

Hendrix

Hello and welcome to Hendrix. This very sweet pomeranian is very old. He has developed criciate disease. This can be more common when old as your muscle reduces and so there is less support for the joints.

As a small dog they do recover easier and are less lilely to require surgery. So Hendrix came for conservative management.

We did our assessment and set him and mum up with a home regime.

He had been making good progress prior to seeing us so we were confident the outcome would be favorable.

We are pleased to say Hendrix has already made a full recovery. Well done Hendrix and mum!

Welcome to Larry

Larry

Hello and welcome to Larry. Such a sweet german sheppard. And massive one too!

He has currently been crate rested following his hemilaminactomy. He is doing wonderfully well. This was not a straight foward disk disease as it took a while for the symptoms to come on enough for the vets to diagnose it. But he was suspected of disk disease and sent to a specialist. They very quickly did thier MRI and surgery. The procedure went well and he was sent home in 3 days.

He is now on his rehabilitation plan. He is 1 week post op and already gaining strength and trying to tell mum what to do! His size does make life a bit difficult. But everyone is doing brilliantly. He is already standing and walking abit too strongly!

We reassessed his home regime and updated it ready for this phase of recovery. It is so important plans are made for the individual patients needs. We have given mum some more massage techniques for his back and tight hamstrings. we have also given a weightshift excercise to work on strength, balance and proprioception.

Keep up the good work mum and Larry. We will see you again soon for your next update!

Hershy

Hello and welcome to Hershy. She has been doing very well in her later years but has sadly rescently deteriorated and needs some more help.

She has a calcifed disk in her neck, possible intervertrable disk disease and possible cruciate ligament disease. She has seen a specialist.

She has now been referred to us for physiotherapy to keep her comfortable.

We have done our assessment and set her up with a home regime of gentle range of movement work and some strengthening.

She has a very caring mum and together we can keep her comfortable in her golden years.

Keep up the good work mum and Hershy!
